In a field along the “secret” back road to Mount Sneffels outside of Ridgeway, Colorado, sits a colorful old car just sitting by itself. It always makes me wonder how did it get there, and what stories could it tell? What roads did it drive down?

At the foot of Mount Elbert, the highest mountain in the Colorado Rockies, lies the old abandoned bunch of houses sitting in the middle of a field. I have tried to figure out what they once were but so far have been unsuccessful. That doesn’t take away from the beauty of this autumn day spent before such an awesome range of mountains.

If you get far enough out on the plains the sky comes alive. Taken at sunset in Dover, Colorado with the full moon and Longs Peak in the far distance to add the final magic. The peaceful quietness is deafening. Wonderful!

I took this one on a nice ride around Loveland, Colorado. In the springtime, there are all of these tiny purple flowers that are so small that we sometimes miss them. I decided to stop my ride long enough to take a few shots of these and this one turned out to capture the majesty of their tiny world that we never see – wonderful.

About halfway between Ault and Pierce, Colorado in a random field, it occurred to me that it might be fun to try out my photo crystal again. I set it on its stand in the field and took this shot. Editing out the stand later makes it look like its floating – cool new universe!

I spent the morning putting new tires on my bike and giving it a good cleaning and tune up and then I had to take it for a test ride and ended up going up to Bellvue, Colorado which I have rode to several times as the normal bike path ends there. Today I continued to go down the dirt road and found the beautiful Watson Lake on a near perfect day where a caught this beauty.

Just north-east of Rockport, Colorado is a quiet escape from the world if you like spending some time with the cows and birds. The evening was perfectly calm with the only sound being the birds and, if you listen carefully, you can hear a heard of cows talking amongst themselves in the far distance.

“Second star to the right and straight on till morning” are the directions to Neverland and on an absolutely clear evening at sunset in Dover, Colorado after a cloudless day you can see all the way to the second star on the right. Such is the magic that exists on plains of Colorado far away from the world.

Mount Sneffels highlights the Saw Tooth range just outside of Ridgway in southern Colorado a fantastic sight. Be quite and listen as you breath in the stillness of this place of total peace.
-
On the north side of Fort Collins lies the Cache La Poudre river which I caught at sunset a quite and peaceful evening. What an ointment for the spirit this place is and a beautiful sight for the eyes.

In life I often struggle to know where to go but this picture reminds me that if I just trust completely in the Lord my work is done and he will show me where to go. Even though I can only see a small section of the path, all I need to do is travel the pathway I can see, the rest will be revealed as I go if I just trust Him.

We were in the middle of the Corona Virus scare with basic supplies being horded and stores filled with people in a crazy panic buying mode when I decided I needed to get away from it all and headed up to the Poudre river and I found a new McMurry Natural Area and this isolated pond tucked in behind the action. And there was peace in the world again.

This is a natural arch in The Canyonlands National Park in Utah. To stand here with a thousand-foot drop on the other side of these rocks is jaw dropping. It is a place I would encourage everybody to visit if you have a chance and truly something I will cherish for the remainder of my life.

Taken on a fantastic summer day in a meadow just southwest of Telluride Colorado I peaked through the trees to see Mount Wilson in the background. To get here I just decided to take a right hand turn on a random dirt road and followed it for about 5 miles into the woods. I was by myself as I stepped out of my car and over a couple of puddles to catch this sight – I had to stand here for a few silent minutes just to begin to take it all in – thankfully I have this picture to remember that moment.

Located in Arches National Park in Utah is this canyon know as Park Avenue. With its towering “buildings” on either side this is one of the most fantastic places in earth. It is simply awesome to stand here at the bottom of the canyon and look up at the rock towers on either side of you – WOW!
-
This picture was taken looking over the fantastic canyons that exist in Canyonlands National Park in Utah. What a place to experience a place like a little Grand Canyon but much closer to home. Imagine the volume of water and the event that carved this canyon out – truly amazing!

This a shot taken at Dream Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park in the early morning after a nice hike – I think it was worth the effort don’t you?
-
A few miles north of Fort Collins is a hidden valley which contains Red Mountain Open Space park which is a peaceful place where you can step into a place apart from the world. A single road leads into a valley that time forgot. Many nights after work I would go here to disappear and close my eyes to learn again what total peace and quiet sounds like and find balance again.

A few Canadian Geese obliged me on my walk by posing for a picture at a local park in Fort Collins. We seldom stop to look at the magnificent world around us but on occasion we get to see things from a new prospective and it is wonderfully magic.

Today is your first day on the road to the rest of your life – stop making excuses and find a way to go and LIVE it!

This picture was taken on a cold winter walk through the many wilderness areas just on the east side of Fort Collins. I used a close-up shot mode to make these dried-up flowers come back to life with details you don’t normally see and changing the picture to black and white completed this image.
-
I finally got a chance to try my new Crystal Photo Ball on the plains of Colorado and it brings a unique perspective to things like this windmill. The picture in the crystal ball is normally upside down and some tricky editing flipped the image around to complete this image.

Taken on an evening walk at the Arapahoe Bend Natural area in Fort Collins, Colorado. At this time of the year the majestic trees in this area are particularly beautiful especially when set against a full moon at sun set. The “flowers” in the foreground are a bright yellow in summer and hang around for an encore performance during the winter months – they still add a beautiful touch to this picture.
-
Taken above Frisco, Colorado, on an unexpected fall day, I had set out to check out the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad, and the fall colors pulled me towards Frisco were I walked up the old trail to Rainbow Lake – a trail that I hadn’t found since childhood about 40 years ago.
-
At the foot of the Medicine Bow Mountains in Routt National Forest lies this beautiful pond that feeds these beautiful Aspen trees, and together they create fall magic that is simply stunning.
-
An old Farmall Tractor decorates the field above the historic mining town of Central City, Colorado. Taken on a summer morning drive this old tractor now rests in this mountain field.
-
Just outside of Coalmont, Colorado lies this little pond formed by the chance of the landscape. Behind to pond is a grove of Aspen trees that burst forth on the fall embankment with a golden color that is pure magic set against the clouded blue sky.
-
Taken on the Poudre River bike trail in Fort Collins, Colorado, a fence highlights the beauty found in this tree-filled scene. I am lucky to be able to spend time enjoying the natural beauty while riding my bike.

Every morning on a walk, I get to see this at Warren Lake in Fort Collins. I believe the white birds on the lake are pelicans enjoying a morning swim.
